Hope… shines the world around us… Or extinguishes it whenever the world narrows around us… and our pain has covered the surroundings… we looked at the pitch darkness around… openly glimpsed a glimmer of hope… That gets us out of this constriction… we are confident that nothing relieves the pain like hope… and the paradoxes of life… that when life floods us optimism… And covers the promising hopes and ambitions the space of the universe around us… Increasing our concern and our fear that the pain will find its way into our lives… to upset this serenity… And the conviction within us that nothing weakens hope in our hearts… more than the pain and suffering we face in life.

Especially when our pain is greater than to ease it by comparing it to the pains of others .. this makes us feel that the world is narrow ..so we summon hope so we could overcome this and get out of this dark tunnel ..

Through art therapy we work to create an equilibrium between the two and make art and painting a tool to overcome the pain as well as to support everything that gives us hope and a bright future

John Millad, the psychodrama coach and Rasha A Saheely, an art therapist, has organized a treatment workshop for psychodrama for a group of patients who are interested in achieving the following goals:

  • Take out the feelings of fear and regaining hope.
  • Replace negative feelings with positive feelings.
  • Reduce anxiety and tension.
  • Each individual realizing what their dreams are.
  • Positive thinking.

And that was achieved by watching some motivational videos and documentary films.

Outcomes of the workshop:

  • Make the cases feel comfortable and change their mood.
  • Raise situations and get them to talk and discuss.
  • Change the outlook of some cases towards themselves and others.

Some opinions shared by the cases:

  • “When a person finds someone who listens to him, they feel better”
  • “The day I attend the workshop, is considered my favorite day”
  • “I feel better”

It is worth mentioning that these activities are part of the “Start_Life” project, funded by Drosos Foundation, which was founded late 2003 as a private non-profit organization to support community development, located in Zurich, Switzerland. The Foundation is committed to empower marginalized people to live a decent life. Drosos seeks to achieve long-term change through the projects it supports in Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, Switzerland and Germany.

Drosos has been working in Egypt since 2007. The foundation strongly supports the following areas: income generation and harm reduction for vulnerable groups, social protection and reintegration, encouraging youth creative activities, as well as environmental protection.

Until the beginning of 2016, the Foundation supported 54 projects in Egypt, serving a wide range of beneficiaries including marginalized youth, women and children.

Drosos Foundation is ideologically, politically and religiously independent.
