Report on the first preliminary meeting of civil society organizations and representatives of public authorities

Held on Thursday July Sharkia Governorate

On Thursday, 12/7/2018, the first preparatory meeting was held with local community organizations and representatives of public and governmental authorities in the framework of the implementation of the activities of the project of economic empowerment of former women prisoners through commercial transport and funded by the European Union.

The meeting was held in Mashallah Hall at Al Rai Club

The conference started at 12:00 pm starting with welcoming the attendees and Dr. Nermin El Bahtiti explained the project and the purpose of this meeting.

She also explained the objectives of the project:

Specific Objective 1. Build individual capacity: Build the administrative, professional and personal capacity of 100 former female prisoners to operate, equip and own 20 mobile commercial vehicles.

Specific Objective 2 – Institutional capacity-building: Build the capacity of community-based organizations to design and implement awareness and support campaigns, targeting 3,750 individuals in their communities, aimed at removing stigma and facilitating the reintegration of former female prisoners into their communities.

Specific Objective 3 – Raise awareness: Increase and enhance understanding and community outreach among 100 government officials responsible for reintegration and rehabilitation of former female prisoners

Anwar Mohammed Hassan, a member of Tamkeen and a member of the integration charity added :

Life Foundation is one of the social institutions that work to monitor the negative phenomena in the society and work to promote them and believes that dealing with people who are free from punishment  ( Former women prisoners ) must be benefited from within the community and not accused of exclusion by the community

Ms. Al-Sayyed was an administrative and financial officer at Sharkia Youth Association

Thanks to Life Foundation for the project and the interest in prisoners and their social integration

Ms. Amani, the Executive Director of the Youth Association of Sharkia Governorate, thanked the team working in the Foundation and asked the attendees to pay attention to this category due to the social problems they encounter.

Economic Empowerment Project for Former Women Prisoners through the Mobile Trade Vehicle

The second meeting of civil society and public authorities in Alexandria Governorates was attended by many public figures and members of the People’s Assembly. Representatives of civil society organizations and associations from Alexandria and Beheira governorates united during the meeting. Collaborations between institutions to facilitate all penalties that the program may face

A Member of Parliament Mohamed Atta Selim expressed the desire to cooperate and the need for community discussion to solve the problem of vehicles and the establishment of a panel discussion on the subject to move forward to achieve the desired goal

He also praised the Minister of Justice in the era of revolution / Mohamed Abdel Aziz, the role of Life Foundation on the effective role played by the community and stressed the need to pay attention and stand by the community organizations.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Tarek Gamal, Director General of the Department of Social Solidarity in Alexandria, He offered an initiative to help the women in debt repayment.

Al-Azhar was not absent, as Dr. Ibrahim El-Gamal, the family’s secretary in Alexandria, attended, He expressed his happiness with the idea of the project and pointed out that he is able to provide awareness of religious institutions and family home, which is of great importance in the community

Similarly, Father Paul Amin, the assistant of the family home, said that the church has an important role in the example of these issues and pointed out that it should also focus on the families of female prisoners because they are the first concerned with the problem because they are an integral part of the prisoner’s life.

The audience included Mr. Islam Reda, a journalist and in turn highlighted the importance of media outreach to the Foundation and the importance of the media standing beside the Foundation in the roles it plays in serving the community.

Based on what was done, everyone agreed on the importance of the idea and the advantages that will accrue to the community through the application and must be supported by everyone who participated in the meeting to reach the desired goal

The attendees also presented some opinions and suggestions on how to implement and ways to benefit from the activities of the project and avoid obstacles that may appear during the implementation of this may occur

 

Dr. Khalid Al-Iraqi, Member of the House of Representatives

It is a great idea and it is ready to provide any assistance for the development of the project and cooperation to solve any problems and obstacles facing the project in coordination with government agencies, especially the Traffic Law. He also explained that the Commercial Vehicles Law is a general and comprehensive law for all commercial activities and is not limited to eating nude only.

is a bright idea because the project includes the economic empowerment of women and their social integration.

He is ready to make professional training for cases on all trades that may be needed for the specific cases of the project such as (tailoring – dry grain packaging – leather industry – dairy industry)

His opinion  talked about the project and talked about how to change the culture of society in the face of the problem and dismiss women prisoners who are seen by the community as isolated groups and believes that we are in dire need to change this culture and must amend the traffic laws for mobile vehicles

The idea of the project is good and must take into account the diversity of specialties as suggested to find a role through the project for media men in the targeted governorates for their important media role in trying to change the culture of society to accept this channel

Life Foundation for Development and Community Integration held a meeting today in Dakahlia Governorate on 31/7/2017
This was part of the economic empowerment activities of former female prisoners of the European Union

The meeting was attended by representatives of civil society organizations and executive leaders, Mr. Ali Abdulwahed also attended by Mr. Nabil Al Jamal, Member of Parliament

The meeting was attended by a number of representatives of civil society organizations and executive leaders, where the Director of the Department of Social

Solidarity Mr. Ali Abdul Wahid and a member of the House of Representatives

The presence of the media in attendance and discussion was attended by Mr. Mohamed Wahba prepared in Dream TV and / Wael Abdel Aziz, director of public relations at the international flag and the presence of intensive attendance partners of civil society institutions, Eng. Mohamed Abbas Director of Small and Medium Industries Development Association

Mrs. Maha Zekrya, President of the Association for the Development of the Environment, also participated in the project and admired the project and stressed the importance of rehabilitation of the community, not only women prisoners, It also noted that the project should be continued after the deadline.

Mr. Ali Helou, Director of the Department of Social Solidarity, said that the project is of great importance in the community and must implement the project in all its programs to achieve the goal of it and even to not fail, he said that it must be continued follow-up to preserve the efforts made

The attendance was intense by the associations and institutions. Mrs. Mona El Said, President of Youth Charity Association, Mrs. Noha Abdel Hamid, Mr. Mohamed El Ghazali, General Manager of SME Development, and Mr. Ali Ramadan, Marketing Officer from the Agricultural Bank of Egypt.

The words varied between admiration and expressing the desire to participate and provide assistance. The discussion was more realistic and everyone agreed on the need to implement the project and stand together in the face of obstacles that might stand in the way of implementation.

The audience thanked the effort exerted by Life Foundation for Development and Community Integration to serve the civil society.

The first preliminary meeting of the economic ambush project

Qalyubia Governorate

Life Foundation for Development and Social Integration held its first meeting in Qalyubia governorate within the list of economic empowerment project for former female prisoners, The meeting, which was held in the city of Banha on 3/ 7 / 2018 a group of political leaders and civil society organizations in the presence of an intensive presence of the media and the National Council for Women, including Dr. Ahmed Amer El-Kholy, Secretary-General of the Future Party, Members of Parliament (Maj. Gen. majid  Saif), (Mr. Mahmoud Badr) and (Mr. Jamal Kosh)

Both members of the Council expressed interest and admiration for the project and added a set of proposals that may benefit the project at various stages

They stated the need to cooperate with the Foundation to remove obstacles that may face the project and the distinguished presence of the National Council for Women was among the participants in the organization of the meeting

Dr. Gihan Fouad, head of the National Council for Women in Qalyubia, stressed the necessity of bilateral cooperation between the council and Life Foundation to achieve the agreed goals which are in the interest of women in general and former prisoners in particular.

The media did not miss the attendance, where he was present in front of the editor-in-chief of Al-Ahram and a number of journalists. Among them is the World Without Borders Foundation, represented by Ms. Zeinab Ibrahim, Ms. Hana Abdel Halim, member of the Red Crescent Society, Ms. Mariam Mikhail for Zahrat Misr Society, Mr. Mohamed Mahrous for Bedaya Association, and Zahrat Al Awtan Association represented by Mr. Omar Hussein.

Mr. Mustafa Abdul Hamid, Director General of the Chamber of Commerce and the Mayor also attended Mohamed Abdel Meguid Mayor of Kafr Arbaeen, All agreed on the success of the idea and the need to implement it to include the target groups through joint cooperation between attendees and Life Foundation for Development and Community Integration.
