Life foundation held its first annual conference in Saffir Hotel in Dokki in the presence of media professionals, artists and sponsors of Life Foundation

Life foundation for development and community integration (LFDCI) held its annual conference on the project “Towards rehabilitation and community integration for prisoners with a focus on female prisoners” on 10^th May 2018 in culmination of efforts started since two years ago since the start of Life Foundation Project funded by Drosos Foundation in supporting rehabilitation and community integration for female prisoners.

LFDCI organized its annual conference in Saffir Hotel in Dokki, the most important achievements and successes of the project  were presented and discussed in the presence of a number of civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations, representatives of Human Rights Department at the Ministry of the Interior – Brigadier General Manar Mokhtar and Colonel Mohamed Tawfiq, representatives of Post-care Department, Centre for Social and Criminological Research, Combating and Treatment of Addiction Centre, a number of media professionals and artists, some members of the parliament in Sharqia and Delta constituencies and Mrs. Faiqa Fahim – Member of the Human Rights Committee of the Egyptian Parliament.

The program of the event included discussions and working papers on the role of rehabilitation and community integration for prisoners in promoting community safety and the impact of custodial sentences on individuals and society; and on design a guideline of life skills programs for release submitted by prof. Dr. Shehata Ziedan, Dr. Reham Mohy, Dr. Hala Ramadan and Dr. Abdulsalam Sharaf – professors of criminological research centre and fund for the combating and treatment of addiction.

Mrs. Nermeen ElBahtyty – the chief executive officer of LFDCI made a speech on the achievements of the project and the report of Archiving program on foundation’s services at the beginning of the conference; furthermore, Mrs. Mona Ghander – Programme Manager of Drosos Foundation.

A documentary film entitled ” Start from scratch” on Life foundation program to rehabilitate the prisoners and released persons; directed by Neveen Shalaby.

In addition, the Director of series “women’s prison” – Hala Elzougandy, the announcer of the program “Attention” – Mona Iraqi were honoured. And also the actress – Badrya Tolba was honoured for her care of released women and women in debt in Alexandria which the director Ahmed Gaber received the award on her behalf and the announcer Marwa Kishk presented the conference.
