A statement on establishing (house of life) the first shelter in Egypt for female releases.

In an effort of LFDCI to realization and upgrading of rehabilitation and integration the releases into society. And after obtaining the decision of Dr. Ghada waly the minister of social solidarity under No. 545 of the year 2017 which provides for interim broads of directors of care of Prisoners and their families association registration No. 135 of the 1966, this decision allows the Memberships Board of Trustees and broads of directors of Life Foundation join as broads of directors of care of prisoners and their families association and to manage the building of prisoners and their families care and establish the first shelter of female releases.

This is the idea of LFDCI was launched in February 2017 which promoted the ministry of social solidarity to implement this idea and adoption of the previous decision.

Therefore, Life Foundation is in the process of preparing the building to receive cases.

An engineering commission was assigned to inspect and issue a report to technical measurement to equip and maintenance of the building and based on this report the association will hold a public tender for maintenance and equipment the shelter.

Accordingly, Life Foundation will manage the building managerial, financially and technically and take decisions related to the shelter and identifying target groups to make benefits from the building’s services based on an agreement signed between LFDCI and care of prisoners and their families association.

Life foundation has developed an operational guide to manage the shelter; will be published shortly, this is the first guide in Egypt for that purpose and by it the management of shelter will be regulatory and scientifically at the highest level.

It is worth mentioning that this shelter is within the activities of project “Towards rehabilitation and community integration of prisoners with a focus on female prisoners” which funded by Drosos Foundation.
